Royal Teeth and KOLARS recently performed at The Hi-Hat.
And photog Mallory Turner was there to shoot the fun show.
Lizzy Land (her real name) is a Portland native who now calls DTLA home. After spending some time performing in Mating Ritual, she has now sparked her solo career by leaking the first single, “Sweet Melodies,” off her forthcoming debut EP. Produced by Taylor Lawhon (a.k.a. Suede James), the chill, pop song floats on a wave of intricate synth work, midtempo beats, and a sharp vox with breathy choruses.
“I don’t need my eyes when you’re around.”
iamBADDLUCK is originally from Boston but now calls NoHo home. Her debut single, “Oath,” was produced by Rob Persaud and is a dark pop (or as she calls it: “Wicca pop”) ode built on thumping trap beats, ominous synths, and a soaring voice.
“Put your hand on mine.”
Rodes Rollins is a fresh songster based in Los Feliz who recently leaked the first single, “Young & Thriving,” off her forthcoming debut EP Young Adult. Produced by Alex Goose (Kevin Gates, Weezer) and featuring Stella Mozgawa (of Warpaint) on drums, the nostalgic song channels a desert nightscape via a somber blend of echoing guitar lines, psychedelic tones, and a very hypnotic voice.
“Moonrise will haunt you til cold.”
Coed duo Sibling recently released their self-titled EP which includes the track “Rearview.” The song is their most epic yet with rumbling beats, swelling synths, gentle piano, and Elodie Tomlinson’s soaring voice.
“Stuck on you in the rear-view.”
Katelyn Tarver returns by leaking another single, “What Do We Know Now,” off her debut EP, Tired Eyes, which drops November 18th via Duly Noted Records. The song bounces around via midtempo beats, dark synths, gentle piano, a catchy-go-lucky chorus, and an epic sing-along but the poptastic constant is Tarver’s reliably breathy, angelic voice.
“If I knew then what I know now…”
