"Keep Together" Music Video by Hunter Hunted

hunter-hunted-600x250 - CopySince releasing their last music video, Hunter Hunted‘s self-titled debut EP has been re-released by A&M Octone Records. Soon after, director Joseph Toman took some actors and the band to the California woods to shoot a music video for their second single “Keep Together”:

FBV wanted to know more about the music video so we interviewed band member Michael Garner:

Who came up with the idea for this video?

Joseph Toman, the director, came up with the concept. We wanted something that felt easy, and natural, and fun. And this idea and aesthetic fit that.”

How did you find the director?

“We are fans of his other videos. He’s done really cool stuff for Justin Timberlake, and Phillip Phillips, and he’s a very versatile director. So we reached out.”

Did you have any desire to wear warpaint again like your last music video?

“We always want to wear warpaint! In the morning, in the afternoon… at suppertime. But no, war paint fit the concept of our ‘End of the World’ music video, but it was never meant to define a permanent look or vibe for our band. But who knows, the warpaint may make a comeback for our next video.”

Where was it shot?

“It was all shot in the beautiful Angeles National Forest a few hours north of L.A. We were in a pretty secluded area and besides the lights, and sound of the set, and the campfire there was nothing else around us. Living in L.A., we sometimes don’t take advantage of the outdoors as much as I should. I felt like my lungs appreciated all the green trees and fresh air.”

As a band, are you big on camping?

“We planned on pitching tents and camping after the music video, but by the time we wrapped it was close to freezing. So we chickened out and drove home. We’re big camping fans individually, but haven’t actually done it as a band yet. We have a favorite scary camping story called Taily Bone and we listen to it on tour quite often but haven’t yet put it to the test in the woods. Might be too scary but I look forward to finding out.

Hunter Hunted will soon join The Mowgli’s and Blondfire on the Random Acts of Kindness Tour throughout the West Coast.

"End Of The World" Music Video by Hunter Hunted

1362175322HunterHuntedEyesClosedIn the post-apocalyptic future, survivors of the human race will live in a perpetual state of primalistic survival while wearing flamboyant war paint –or at least, that’s what director R.J. Sanchez envisioned for Hunter Hunted‘s “End Of The World” music video. Shot around the “East Jesus” community in Slab City, the video follows the Echo Park-based band (Michael Garner and Dan Chang –formerly of Lady Danville) exploring desert home ruins, fishing in the Salton Sea, burning cars, and being chased by gorgeous women with guns. The visuals are a stark contrast to the duo’s effulgent harmonies and buoyant beats, but it works:

Hunter Hunted will continue their March residency at the Bootleg Bar this Monday, March 18th along with TheBlack&TheWhite and Bom Bom presented by KROQ Locals Only.

"Stable" by Kid Cadaver

KC8A8365Kid Cadaver just released a new single called “Stable.” Produced by their go-to-guy Frankie Siragusa at TheLab in Noho, the track continues with their reliable dance elements but this time they blatantly lathered on the pop. If The Valley trio continues to write songs like this, they’ll find themselves as the token pool party band for the Summer of 2013:

Free Bike Valet is presenting TheBlack&TheWhite‘s second residency show tonight, March 12th, at The Central. Also performing is Kid CadaverThe Mercy Beat, and M.O.O.N. Come out, it’s free!

"High School" by Go West Young Man

Manifest Destiny is a concept that still prevails in the hearts of American youth. An ideal that everything will be better if you just head to the coast. So it’s no surprise that Go West Young Man coined their moniker after the famous quote by 17th century newspaper editor Horace Greeley that captured the movement. Originally a duo of Damin Suarez and Matt Nakamura, the Atwater Village-based act expanded to a quartet that pumps out catchy, infectious indie rock that induces dancing and hopping with steady blasts of pop. Their new album Ages will be released on October 30th, but for now you can enjoy its first single “High School”:

Free Bike Valet will be presenting the first night of Go West Young Man‘s October residency this Tuesday (10.2) at The Central. Also performing will be Sheera, The Breakups, and College Kids. Please come out for a fun free show!

"Sweet Melodies" by We Are / She Is

We Are / She Is makes pop rock mashed up with dance beats and synth streams. The high tempo keeps your legs moving while the harmonic choruses keep your arms waving. The SoCal girl duo may split residences between Buena Park (guitarist/synthesizer/vocalist Jessie Meehan) and Westwood (bassist/synthesizer/vocalist Merilou Salazar), but that doesn’t stop them from syncing like sisters. Their debut EP is entitled “Young And Pretty Clean” and has had two tracks featured on Showtime’s The Real L Word.  But our favorite is the moody dance track “Sweet Melodies”:

We Are / She Is will perform tonight at The Central along with BlondfireIn The Valley Below, and Y Luv.
