“Runaway” Music Video by Roniit

Roniit Promo2Burbank denizen Roniit is a self-appointed “dark pop queen” and while she might be challenged for that title she makes a strong case with her Varien-produced single “Runaway” (off her forthcoming concept album). Lyrically based on heartbreak, the track opens with sparse trap beats and dreary synths which intensify as her vox glides into a swell:

“Why don’t you run away with my heart?”

And here’s its aptly surreal music video:

"Get Home Safely" by Kissy Girls

1492535_215148175338518_364931480_oKissy Girls is a coed duo split between the coasts: Emily Greene lives in Silver Lake while Pascal Le Boeuf lives in New York. We can assume at some point they came together to record, or maybe they collaborated via long distance such as The Postal Service. Their first leaked track “Get Home Safely” is a dark ode with deep beats, minimalist keys, and Greene’s rapturing voice that slowly heightens the song into a spiral of emotions:

“My heart is stuck, to the sidewalk…”
