“Sweetheart” by Ren Farren

Ren Farren is a Malibu-raised popster (and occasional Goldroom collaborator) who recently leaked her new single “Sweetheart.” Produced by Brian Robert Jones (of Carlton), the song blatantly focuses on Farren’s infatuation with throwback bubblegum-pop via danceable digi-beats and shimmery synths which blast sharp bursts of brilliant glee (despite the not-so-cheery lyrics).

“Oh what a curse, to be young and in love.”

First, thank you Free Bike Valet (totally loving that name) for hosting REN FARREN. Second, relating to your review. While we know how versatile FARREN can be with a well rounded scope musical styles (infatuations), this song just described love in life as I know it. Completely related to it with the 1st listen. The lyrics paint a picture of a 1st true love that had to be left, pulled by the knowing of so much to be explored in the world. So often I look back on those days and realize I would never find a better mate. But zero regrets, as I wouldn’t have appreciated it without leaving, saying “I’m sorry I can’t be your sweetheart.” Glee for sure and the lyrics are made cheery by wrapping them in a perfectly embellished melody. 🙂 Two thumbs up and then some! Love it FARREN. Nailed it! I must own it too. Thanks for reminding me that I’m smiling for this Valentine weekend and always! What a gift. What a heart. What a love!
