DTCV (pronounced “detective”) is a rawk-pop trio founded by a coed duo who go by Vivarock and Fiat Lux and now reside in Joshua Tree “to live as hermits for a while.” The couple originally met years ago at a French film festival in Hollywood (Vivarock is French) and have since released an impressive discography via vinyl and cassetes on every kickass indie label in SoCal (Burger, Xemu, Mock, Unsatisfied, Lolipop). Their latest, Uptime!, superbly channels the jangle-pop accessibility of female-fronted alt-rock acts such as Belly and Throwing Muses, but perhaps with a darker edge. They’re currently recording an EP with Joel Jerome but for now here’s their bonus track cover of Elvis Costello‘s “Watching The Detectives” (irony intended?).
