Buddy originated as an acoustic project by, well, a man only known as “Buddy.” But after moving from Portland to Silver Lake, he eventually recruited a full band and released a few records. His second full-length, Last Call For The Quiet Life, became a dual creative affair as he primarily worked with his bassist/guitarist Will Golden as a producer and even recruited Michelle Branch, Cary Brothers, and Holly Conlan as guest vocalists. The result is a fresh wave of indie-pop, dream rock that heaves effervescent melodies. And while he may refer to his sound as “wimpycore,” we’ll call it breathtakingly beatific.
