When Silver Lake indie rockers The Deadly Syndrome finally folded last year, its falsetto-frontman Christopher Richard joined the massive ensemble that is Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros as a percussionist and backup vocalist. Now solo as crash (a nickname he earned as a PA), his debut album Hardly Criminal (Community Music) will be released on May 6th. Produced by fellow Zero guitarist Mark Noseworthy, the album is a ravishing revivalist ragbag of soul, funk, and folk –all accredited to his multi-cultural upbringing in New Orleans.
