"MDNGHT" by The Pocket Rockets (Premiere)

number 3East L.A. scene stalwarts The Pocket Rockets return with a self-titled follow-up EP via Sick City/DR Records. Staying true to DIY, they recorded it in drummer Chris Magallon’s Boyle Heights bedroom and garage this past winter (that is, when they weren’t performing at some pop-up venue or indie rock fest). Their mentor Jon Siebels (formerly of Monsters Are Waiting, currently of Eve Six) returned to mix/master the album at Ultrasound Studios and the result is their best collection yet: an evolved blend of core-pop often breaking into dance-punk. Singles “Somewhere We Can Be Alone” and “Summer Girl” have been previously leaked, but here’s the opening track “MDNGHT”:
