"Boardwalk" by Tijuana Panthers

E41A0777-2If SoCal‘s latest wave of surf-pop garage-rock bands has an unofficial ringleader, it would be Tijuana Panthers. The Long Beach trio unapologetically rips their beach party vibes straight from the wave swells via catchy beats, jingly grooves, and snarling harmonies all filtered by vintage fuzz. They chose their fitting moniker after a little black ceramic panther that was a present from their neighbor Max Baker (who they then named their debut album after). Their second album, Semi-Sweet, was recently released by Innovative Leisure and engineered by Victor Orlando Nieto and Delta Spirit‘s Matt Vasquez. Here’s their latest single “Boardwalk”:

Tomorrow night, Tijuana Panthers will perform at the Santa Monica Pier‘s Twilight Concert Series by opening for No Age. And yes, there will be actual “free bike valet” at this concert.

Their following show will be at The Echo with Grmln to finish their “SS West Coast” tour.
