"All I Need" by The Cerny Brothers

Cerney BrothersOver a year ago, The Cerny Brothers (Robert and Scott) left their rural Illinois hometown to start a folk band… in Los Angeles. Somehow, they managed to find a like-minded drummer (Cody Fontes) and upright bassist (Gabe Davis) amongst the concrete jungle. But despite their change in habitat, the brothers have refused to let their urban setting in West LA influence their naturally sweet sound.

For their self-titled second album, the quartet appropriately escaped to the more desolate and spiritually prone town of Ojai for a more suitable setting to record. Here, they teamed-up with producer Matt Linesch (Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros, Aaron Embry) at his studio that he built with Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros‘ frontman Alex Ebert. The songs that spawned carry a raw energy as if plucked right off a mountain house’s front porch. The banjo picks and the vocals harmonize, but soon it’ll erupt into a blaze of Americana ardor. Here’s the track “All I Need”:

The Cerny Brothers’ self-titled album will be released on Tuesday, May 28th. And on Friday, May 31st, The Bluegrass Situation presents The Cerny Brothers with Joy Kills Sorrow at The Mint.
