With a moniker that’s a pun on their favorite athlete (Bo Jackson) and a logo/mascot that’s a Care Bear fallen to vices, it’s easy to assume that Rainbow Jackson is full of characters. The scruffy quartet spends a lot of time at their Echo Park apartment/practice space crushing cheap beer, getting homemade tattoos, and shredding gritty pop rock blended with psychedelic grooves. They created a music video for their latest single, “Flamingo Starr,” but really it’s an open invite to come party at their place:
This month, Rainbow Jackson will release a 7″ split with Hindu Pirates on Near Mess Records and are currently working on their next EP. This Tuesday, May 7th, Free Bike Valet and Us Vs Them co-present the first night of their May residency at The Central along with LA Font, Hobart W. Fink, and John Wayne Bro. And it’s free!
